Support
Help for DiskBeam on iPhone and iPad.
What you need
- An iPhone or iPad with iOS 17 or later.
- A Mac with Finder, on the same Wi-Fi, on your iPhone's Personal Hotspot, or connected with a cable.
- To share a drive: an SSD, USB stick or SD card reader your iPhone can see in the Files app. exFAT works on iPhone, Mac and Windows.
Connect your Mac
- Open DiskBeam and tap Turn on disk. Allow Local Network when iPhone asks.
- On your Mac, in Finder, press ⌘K (Go › Connect to Server) and paste the address DiskBeam shows. If it shows more than one, use the one for the network your Mac is on.
- Your Mac says it can't verify the server: that is expected, the certificate is made by your iPhone. Click Show Certificate, check that its SHA-256 fingerprint starts with the code DiskBeam shows, then click Continue.
- Choose Registered User and enter the name and password from DiskBeam. Tick Remember this password.
Your Mac can't connect
- Mac and iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi, or your Mac on this iPhone's Personal Hotspot. Guest and hotel Wi-Fi often block this.
- Keep DiskBeam open on your iPhone screen: iPhone pauses the disk in the background.
- Finder stuck on “Connecting”? Check that DiskBeam is on screen. Its login or certificate window may also be hidden behind a full-screen app: swipe to your desktop.
- Local Network must be allowed for DiskBeam in iPhone Settings.
- Using another app than Finder, such as Cyberduck? Allow it under Local Network in your Mac's System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Drives and folders
- Sources › Add folder or drive opens the Files picker: choose the drive (or a folder) and tap Open. That's DiskBeam Pro.
- iOS lets apps see a drive you pick once. If you plug it back in and DiskBeam asks, add it again.
- Files your Mac copies into the Inbox appear in the Files app under On My iPhone › DiskBeam.
Plans and purchases
- Free: share DiskBeam's own folder with your Mac, read-only.
- DiskBeam Pro: share any drive or folder, and let your Mac add, rename and delete files. Monthly with a 7-day free trial, Yearly, or Lifetime paid once.
- Prices vary by country, and the App Store shows yours before you buy.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Restore a purchase
Open Settings in DiskBeam and tap Restore purchases (it is also on the purchase screen). Use the same Apple Account you bought with. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
